Verses and Songs we claim for Luke

Luke loves to sing and praise God!  He sings loud and with great passion.  For the last few weeks he has had a new favorite song that he learned in Bible school.  I wanted to post these for everyone to read, and when you hear these songs think of Luke and lift him up to God.   

“You’re Powerful”

This verse was quoted while we were on our knees for Luke that first night.  It has stayed in my heart and we are claiming this for Luke.  I could not find where this verse was in my Bible- I looked all day yesterday.  Last night when Ben and I were spending some quiet time with Luke I opened my Bible and told Ben that I have to find this verse.  Not more than 10 seconds later Ben got an email on his phone from some new friends from church(who we just met on Sunday morning, and have become so special to us in such a short time), he said he just felt led to share a verse from a new devtional he read.  It was the verse that I had been searching for! God is good!

The Lord your God is with you,

He is mighty to save.

He will quiet you with his love,

He will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

 

Some other favorite songs recently have been:  “My Savior My God” and “Revelation Song”

Thank you everyone for your prayers and love!   We feel so blessed and encouraged, you all will never know how much it has meant!

  1. I just wanted to let you know we have been praying for Luke and for your family. You have been constantly on my mind even though I don’t personally know you…my heart just goes out to you! We were so thankful to see the blog and see his miraculous improvement so far! Praise God!

  5. I just wanted to let you know that you guys are on my mind all the time. I have been in constant prayer for you all. Lindsey, you are so strong, even if you don’t feel it right now. You should be proud of yourself for all that you did in those first few seconds you got to him. I pray for strength and peace for you. I love that song “unshakable!” Madison learned that song too at bible school this summer and has been singing it everyday. I love that picture of Luke playing catcher! It reminds me of our mini-minor all-star days!! 🙂 God is a God of miracles! I am so happy that things are looking up! Praise the Lord!! Lots of Love, Rene

  6. Powerful. I have spent most of the afternoon worshipping and praying over you all. I will keep a jounal of the songs He leads me to, as well as the prayers the boys pray. I hope to also put together a CD with some of the songs so Luke will have that to enjoy later. Lots of love sent your way.

  7. I am a good friend of Heidi King’s and I just wanted you to know that My husband and I have been and will continue to pray for your family specifically your precious son. I believe that nothing is impossible with God. He is our refuge and strength, an everpresent help in time of need!

  9. Lindsey-do you have the CD from Crocodile Dock? If not, would you like me to send a copy to someone in your family, to have, when he wakes, so he can enjoy the music? Let me know–or pass the word to Darrel/Heather and I’ll get it for you. We have copies laying around at work (church). I’m such a fan of music playing a HUGE role in healing the mind, body and soul!

  10. Lindsey, thanks so much for posting this! I have been constantly thinking of you and praying for Luke for the last almost 48 hrs. When you are raising kids, especially boys, the thought of something like this looms over you constantly. There is nothing that a boy won’t climb on, under, or over! I have given my three boys extra hugs and kisses so many times in the last two days, and everytime they ask why I am crying while i do it! I am so happy that you have your little Luke to hug and kiss as well, and I hope you are able to make peace with what you experienced and see how strong you were and will continue to be for him. I think any mom can only hope to be clear headed enough to help when there child is in such a crisis! We love you and will continue to pray!

    We have prayed and let so many others know to pray through Facebook and through our church email list and also at my workplace. Then we have of course been blessed to tell them all how faithful God has been in answering these prayers for you little Luke! It is almost unbelievable; yet He did it! Dondra sends her love and support as does my mother in Texas who has been in prayer for your family. Rest in God’s hands and enjoy the Peace that passes all the World’s understanding! You have been in my thoughts so much these past few days, my moms heart crys out in anguish for you all. Our God is a awesome God!   13. We and our children have been praying for you since we heard the news. We rejoice at each glimpse of progress and praise our Savior and your faith. I led worship at Covenant’s VBS this summer and “You’re Powerful” was one of the songs my children loved but I always wondered if they could fully know what the words mean… “you shake me, you break me, you make me whole again….” without much life experience. Because of your Luke, they understand a much deeper meaning to the song. His life has caused my children’s faith to grow. I just wanted you to know that.

    I have been in prayer since I read about the accident on Rene’s fb page. It is in our biggest challenges that we see the awesomeness of God’s grace. I have faith that God has a special plan for Luke’s life. I know I haven’t seen or talked to you in many years, but you have always been a strong cookie. I hope that I get to see you again and meet your beautiful family.

  16. I don’t know if Ben remembers me but I went to RBI with him back in 96′. I found out about Luke through my friend Janelle Kauffman and I just want both of you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I praise God for the progress Luke is making and I am praying for his complete healing. My brother TJ sustained a serious head injury three weeks ago, I know the pain of sitting helpless beside a hospital bed. I will be lifting you up in prayer.

  17. We are so happy and thankful for the good news and we will continue to pray for full recovery! As a new mother, my heart goes out to you especially Lindsey and we will be praying for God to rid you of those horrible first memories. It’s amazing how much He’s done already!! Wish we could be there to give you a big hug and show our support, but know that we love you and will continue to pray for God’s healing.     What a blessing your blog is to communicate with so many who are petitioning Jesus on Luke’s behalf. Our family is praying for Luke, expecting a quick, miraculous recovery. When this crisis is over, we pray that you will be able to look back and be amazed at God’s handiwork through it all and His faithfulness at carrying you through!

  20. Praying for you Luke! And the entire Yoder family!
    You are absolutely right, God is POWERFUL. He has the power to make you whole again!
    I have a 7 year old, and his favorite Crocodile Rock song is the same as yours…. #5 on the VBS CD. That is all we listen to in the car. Now as we drive down the road, we will think of you and keep lifting you up in prayer.

    We have been praying for you all like crazy and are so happy to hear the progress Luke it making! A ton of my friends are also praying, anyone we can get on board.

    Do you know He is Mighty To Save by Hillsong? Your verse made me think of it. I’ll think of Luke when we sing it in church. It is talking about salvation, but that’s ok. He’s mighty to save in MANY ways!

    We love you all and will continue to keep your near in our prayers.

  23. Dear Yoder family,
    It was so inspiring to visit you guys briefly today at UVA. It is quite obvious that you are a very close knit family and your faith is STRONG. Ben, we witnessed a very poignant moment when you greeted your dad and told him you missed him while he was gone for a period of time today. You expressed to him that you “weren’t worried about him but concerned for how he was feeling”. To see a young man hug and express such kind words to his dad was very moving. I know your love for your son is strong as well. We are remembering your request that we pray especially for your son Andrew and your dad. You didn’t ask us to pray for you…….you were concerned about others. We will be remembering those request, you and your family, as well as the medical team.

    We give to you this promise from Lamentations 3:22-23
    Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed; for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

  24. It wasn’t so long ago that I was in a UVA hospital bed with a broken body. The chorus that kept running through my head was, “No storm can shake my inmost calm when to the Rock I’m clinging, for if love is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing.” This chorus is from “My Life Goes On.” God will carry Luke through this storm and he will sing again. During my ordeal, I thanked a doctor for putting me back together. He said “we can only put things back where they belong, you’re just a good heal.” I responded, “No, I have a good Healer.” Praise God for His healing powers! We pray for continued healing for Luke and Carson and calmness for the rest of the family during this storm. Keep clinging to the Rock.

  25. I am Jeff Watros’s sister and was with Wendy when she got the call about Luke. I began praying then and continue to pray for him and his cousin and your entire family. I’m back at my home in Syracuse, NY but Wendy keeps me updated and now I check the blog for updates. Just know that you have extended family up here in NY and you are in our prayers.

  28. Wow, how encouraging to hear of God’s miraculous power working on your behalf.

    Chris said fequently while driving to New York that he wanted to see Lukey. He loves seeing Luke’s catcher picture!

    And you know I love hearing that Luke worships loudly at home :).

    I am so excited at God’s greatness! How good our God is. I am praying all day and night as the Lord has lead me for Luke, You, Ben, Andrew and Shea.
    The Lord has placed a verse in my heart it is 2 Corinthians 12:9 and it is best said in the Message “My Grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness. ” God’s grace is all around you and he will lift you up when you need it most.

    I am so broken to have you go through this. Luke is going through the fight and he has two beautiful parents and extented family who are falling before God with this petition for his ecovery.
