Good News – Keep it Coming Lord!

We started out the day with happy faces! Luke looks great this morning with good coloring and a lot of the swelling has gone down. Also, the radiologist (who was taking a second look at the MRI) reported no additional damage or concerns other than the original diagnosis. Luke underwent a vision screening a few hours ago and his pupils constricted, which is a first since he was admitted.

Luke is having another MRI (scheduled for later today) just as a precaution – Luke’s doctor’s are amazing and want to be CERTAIN there aren’t any lingering problems that went unnocticed.  If everything looks good, they will remove the neck brace and start to reduce his sedation.

We are so grateful for all of the food and gifts that have poured in, but wanted to let everyone know that we have more than enough food!  It is piling up in the visitors lounge. Check back with us over the weekend, as we may need more at that time.

On a bit of a different note, just wanted to let everyone know that we are all congregating daily in the waiting room, having group prayer, sharing our favorite “Luke stories” and praying for other families who are going through difficult situations. We have a few hotel rooms a couple blocks from the hospital for those who need to get good rest (sleep doesn’t come easy since Luke was admitted). Ben and Lindsey were able to get a good night’s sleep last night! They are feeling refreshed and more upbeat.

  8. I am part of your Blue Ridge Family and I spoke with you briefly in the waiting room yesterday. I was priviledged to be allowed into Luke’s room to see him and offer a prayer over him. Now, I can picture his face as I pray and lift him to God. The updates and entries on this blog are so encouraging and positively uplifting and even though I don’t really know your family yet I will get to know you through this. God is present in Luke’s mind, body and spirit and is bringing the healing he needs. May God bless the Doctors and Nurses and all the other hospital employee’s that are caring for him. May his healing be a testimony to the miracle working power of God. To Him be the glory.

  12. The night we heard of the accident our family spent time in prayer and is continuing to do so.. we are very encouraged of the good news.. Praise God!!!!
Something that I wanted to share with you all that I feel the Lord gave for you on that first night.

I was spending time in prayer and reading the bible and I opened up this book that I always read, you may have heard of it “Come Away My Beloved” by Francis J Roberts… I picked up this book to read it after reading some scripture and this is the very first thing I read when I opened up the book. The title of the page was “Comfort in Affliction”

“Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me”
    Hosea 5:15

O My people, has not My hand fashioned for you many signs and wonders? Have I not ministered to you in miraculous ways? How is it you say therefore in your heart, “I will turn again to human strength?” How often have i spoken to you, and never failed to keep my word? Will you not, then, trust Me now in this new emergency, even as you have trusted Me in the past?

Your need is greater this time, and so I have made the testing more acute. I strengthen you in the furnace of affliction, and purify your soul in the fires of pain.

Lean hard upon Me, for I bring you through to new victories, and restoration shall follow what seems now to be a wind of destruction.

Hold fast to My hand, and rest in My love, for of this you may be very certain: My love is unaltered; yes, I have you in My own intensive care. My concern for you is deeper now than when things are normal.

Draw upon the resources of My grace, and so shall you be equipped to communicate peace and confidence to your dear ones. Heaven rejoices when you go through trials with a singing spirit. Your Father’s heart is cheered when you endure the test and do not question His mercy.

Be like a beacon light. His own glorious radiance shall shine through you, and Christ Himself will be revealed!!!!!

As you can see this was pretty amazing and it was like God talking right to you all… he is good and he knows all that we go through..

Hope this is encouraging to you as you continue to seek, praise and glorify God through this journey he has you in.

We will continue to lift you all up to the Father.

  16. I’m a friend of Maretta’s. I just wanted to let you know that my family and several other friends have been praying for you since I got word of the accident. I have been praying that God would work a miracle and I believe that He is doing so. I continue to lift you each up several times through out the day. Our God is so Mighty and I pray the He would hold you each in the palm of His hand and He would place His healing hand upon your precious Little Luke. My son loves to play catcher so that picture really touched me. I’m praying that Luke will be back in his catchers gear and hitting baseballs for Jesus. My Love and Prayers to you and your family. 24. I heard about Luke’s accident from my friend, Tony Shafer. He was devastated to hear that he was hurt so badly and asked me to pray for him. I have been keeping Luke, as well as all of your family in my prayers. I am so happy to hear all of the wonderful encouraging news you have been sharing. I will continue to pray for Luke’s ongoing progress, and for your family to hold tightly to each other for strength as you travel this difficult road. I do believe that God has a special plan for Luke, as seems to be evident by the lives he has already touched. May God continue Luke’s healing and may your faith continue to sustain your family and friends.
