An Encouragment
This is something from Luke’s first grade teacher, Mrs. Barlow that she wrote for Luke and read at his end of year school program. Ben and Lindsey were encouraged reading this again this afternoon and Ben prayed this scripture for Luke.
“I chose the character quality of “confident” for Luke. He does his work confidently and is first to raise his hand to answer a question. Luke exhibits many wonderful leadership qualities and others are eager to follow him. I am thankful that he leads others down the right path! Luke, thank you for your encouraging leadership in the classroom. but did you know that there is something else to be confident about? Philippians 1:6 states, “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” God’s not done with you yet, and I’m excited to see how many you lead to Christ. ”

Luke is the most amazing, energetic and confident young man I have ever met and I am blessed to have him as my nephew. His teacher hit the nail on the head with her comments about Luke! I am CONFIDENT that Luke’s strength and confidence (as stated) will play into his recovery. Those characteristics combined with our Father’s faithfulness will lead to GREAT THINGS! Luke’s teacher was so right when saying, “God is not done with him yet!” I can’t wait to see Luke grow up and where God will lead him. How exciting!

Luke we are praying for you and your family and extended family. God holds all of you in the palm of His hand. He knows how to take care of each of you all. We praise God that you have a lot of family support. Trust our heavenly Father for all your unknown and questions. Remember the song ‘He got the whole world in His hands ” You all are part of the world.
I can’t tell you how emotional I got when I read that post. I, too, have recalled those words many times over the last few days. That is just evidence that those words were from God and not from me. I’m glad they were used to encourage you. We continue to “pray without ceasing” for precious Luke. Keep looking to the hills because that’s where your help comes from!
You don’t know us but our family has been praying for Luke since we read about his accident in the paper. Your family will continue to be in our prayers.

My family doesn’t know luke and your family.. but I been worried about luke since I seen it online tv 3. I have a 14 and 8 year old boys. We will keep Luke in our Prayers.

We will continue to be praying for Luke constanstly over the next few days. We know first hand how devasting it can be to get news of a “setback”. Faith too during her stay in the ICU would have good days and then we would get news that would feel like we were taking a step backwards. If you need anything, please feel free to call us. We know that sleep doesn’t come easy during these dificult times; however, we learned first-hand that the best time to try to get a restful nights sleep is when your child is in the ICU. The nurses in the ICU or so good and they really do keep a close eye on your child when you aren’t present. When Luke gets released to the floor, you will want to be with him around the clock. I hope this advice was helpful from a mom and dad who have spent many days and nights in the PICU at UVA as well. WE WILL KEEP PRAYING FOR STEPS FORWARD!

I can’t even begin to imagine what your family and Luke are going through right now. I have a two year old son and as I look at all of the beautiful pictures that have been posted, I smile, then I see the picture of Luke in the hospital and I can’t help but become teary eyed. The thouht of any child having to go through so much trauma and the parents having to watch only being able to pray and offer support is heartbreaking. Ever since I heard about his accident I have prayed for you and kept you in my thoughts every day. This was a terrible incident and I hope that he recovers 100%. Stay strong and have faith.
I pray for healing for Luke and for strength for you Ben and Lindsey! God will provide for you day by day all you need! We love you all!

I am sending updates through our church prayer chain as I get updates. It is really encouraging when folks thank me for keeping them updated. Though none of them know Luke, they ask about him by name. We are all “one” in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Lord loves for His church to pray. Although we may not all be of the same denomination, yet we are one in Christ. We long to see Luke restored to good health and we must storm the throne of grace, humbly, yet boldly, requesting the Lord’s will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Your servant in Christ, Rocky
