Lukeyoder's Blog

Just another weblog

Thursday Morning

Just a quick note to let you know what is happening…….even though Luke is still very sedated, he is beginning to have more movement.  They are going to install a “G” tube today…….a tube directly into his torso and stomach for feeding.  They want to continue to wean him off of the ventilator as soon as he is able to breathe on his own.  (They believe he can breathe on his own, but because of all the sedation he hasn’t been)  The doctors explained it is a much more difficult call as to when to remove it, because of the halo he is wearing.  With no neck movement, it would be much tougher to get a tube back down his throat.  At the same time they want to remove things as soon as they can because of all the confusion and discomfort Luke will experience while waking up.  There is a possibilty of removing the pressure monitor in his head as soon as tomorrow, contingent upon his pressure staying good.

Specific prayer requests being eyes and vision. Right eye seems to be responding a bit more than left.  We were very excited and encouraged this morning as he responded to requests for a hand squeeze!!   Please be in prayer today for continued healing and rest.  Thank you so much for your prayer and support to this point.  We know and see your prayers are making a difference daily!!

  4. Dear Yoder family,

I am very sorry for what you have been going through.

Thank you for keeping updates available, as many of us are concerned and praying for your family’s well being through all of this, especially Luke’s. This tragedy evokes a strong feeling in me that we humans are in this life together, whether we worship in a church or in a forest or both or neither. When faced with something like this, we are all brought to our knees, we are all related under God.

I saw a big sign from the highway earlier this week on the convention center building in Fishersville that read, “Pray for Recovery” and I thought of Luke. Please keep talking with him and reassuring him and explaining his circumstances to him, even though you are not sure he is hearing you. I pray for continued feedback from Luke as his sedation is removed, and I pray that he is okay.

    Your neighbor,
    Kristy Bliss

  8. wow! tears come to my eyes as I read that he squeeze a hand. What a mighty God we serve. You are in our thoughts and prayers. With four boys of our own…I just can not imagine what you are going thru and what it will be like when Luke wakes up. We are praying that God will give you the comforting words to say as Luke wakes up..and that Luke will have an understanding of what he’s been thru and what he will still go thru…and that he will see God’s hand in all of this…just as we are witnessing it!!
