Lukeyoder's Blog

Just another WordPress.com weblog

Friday 7/24

Just a quick note to let you know what’s going on……..Each day they add more challenges to Luke’s therapy sessions.  Today the big addition was writing their commands on paper and showing them to Luke.  He was able to read them and point to different objects or people!!  He definately is seeing at least well enough to make out the writing on the paper close up!!  His eyes don’t move or track well at this point, they seem to kind of stay pointed to his right, but it is awesome to know he is able to at least have this amount of vision already.  The doctors still do not know if his vision will improve or not, they say it could be a result of blood and swelling on the optic nerve in the back of his skull or the nerve could have sustained damage.  We are praying that the swelling is going to recede!!  Still no speech to this point but all in all another positive day!!  Small steps in the right direction.

Some folks are wondering about visitors.  I would say not quite yet.  I can totally understand people wanting to get over there to see him, as well as Ben and Lindsey, but the good folks at Kluge say at this point it still is not good for him to get over stimulated.  Also they want Ben and Lindsey to be VERY hands on, and at this point  they are staying very busy with his needs.  I hope you can understand this, and please know we are praying that this can change soon!

Some folks have also asked for a way to give or donate to Luke’s cause.  Today a fund or account for Luke was set up at United Bank.  For more details on how to contribute please contact a bank officer at the Bridgewater branch.  Their number is:  540.515.0003  Their address is: 309 N. Main Street * Bridgewater, VA  22812

P.S.  The Ben and Lindsey family, as well as the whole Yoder/Hochstetler bunch is VERY appreciative and thankful for the meals being provided!!

Mike

  1. I have been following the blog and praying for Luke and the family since I first heard about the accident. It has been a long time sice I have been in contact with the Yoder family and Ben was probably early teens. I am trusting with you guys for a miracle of full restoration for Luke. The Kluge Center is a wonderful place and I have seen many children that they have helped. I will continue to pray an follow the progress!

  2. Wonderful news! Praise God! It may feel like a long journey is ahead, but never will Luke walk it alone. Our Lord walks alongside him. Please continue to let us know how we might be of help.

  3. Thanks for the update. Also blessings to each of you “reporters” who are speaking on behalf of Lindsey/Ben. Bless you for being honest enough to ask us to respect their “space” and being their advocates. Luke’s care and healing is #1 for sure. Continue to reassure them that many are out here lifting them before the throne of our AWESOME God.
