From Hannah (Luke’s Cousin)

Yesterday, Mom and Dad (Chris and Faith), Sarah, Madison, and Zach and I all drove up here to spend the weekend with Luke and our family before we have to go back to school. When we left here a couple weeks ago, Luke was still under heavy medication so he was not awake, so I was very excited to see how much he had improved! When we got into Virginia we went to Kluge and found Luke finishing up his dinner. He had eaten a small container of ravioli and a bowl of pumpkin pie. After he was done with his pumpkin pie he mouthed that he wanted more to Lindsey 🙂 It was very cool to see Luke eat because he was doing it with a mirror. Because of the halo he cannot bend his neck to see his food, so he uses a mirror to see his food. I thought  it would be difficult to use a mirror because everything is backwards, but he did great! After he finished eating, we went back to his room where we all talked to him for a while. He would either answer me with a nod of his head or he mouthed his words.  He also threw a ball a couple times to Uncle Chris, it was  funny because Luke would fake it a couple times and then throw it really fast right at him. Luke was very tired though because they had started to give him double the therapy…so he was worn out! It was awesome to see in person Luke able to communicate and eat his food, it is a big improvement since the last time a saw him! Keep praying!

  2. I am a friend to Lucinda Hostetler from SC. She told me about Luke and yesterday I spent time reading the posts and my heart and prayers went out for all ya’ll.
Two years ago our son had a motorcycle accident with severe closed head injury. He is doing really well now but it was a long haul.
I just want to encourage you that God does hear and answer prayers and the bigger the load, the bigger His grace.
You are all in my prayers. God bless

  8. Hannah, Luke is blessed to have “cousins by the dozens”! You’re a big part of his healing process. It’s obvious that he’s doing everything he can, with God’s help, to be “raised up”
