Lukeyoder's Blog

Just another weblog

I want to go home!

I just talked to Ben and thought I would update you all on today.  Luke had another good day in terms of progress but also maybe a little tougher emotionally.  He realizes he can’t do everything he once did or wants to do now and its frustrating at times.   He also would really like to go home!  He misses playing with Andrew.  So you all can pray for his perseverance and encouragement.  He is such a fighter and a sweet, special, determined, smart boy but today was a little tough for him.

Lindsey did say his eyesight continues to get better and so he is able to read better.   He is testing at or even a bit above his grade level in reading and math!  He is very smart and has been able to remember everything from before the accident.  His short term memory is something they have noticed can be more of a struggle for him so pray for that area as well.

Also, the doctors have decided to speed up the weaning process of the medications he is still on and he should be done with that in another week!  That is great news!

Ben and Lindsey were both encouraged and doing good this evening, continue to pray for them as their days can be so tiring both physically and emotionally.  Thank you all, your prayers are being answered and again words can not express our gratitude!

On a personal note it has been so amazing and awesome to see the Lord working in Luke’s life these past weeks!  Not only has He done miracles but He is our loving Heavenly Father who holds us and carries us through tough times!  It has been so evident that truly the Lord is Ben and Lindseys strengh and He is carrying them through!   I continue to pray that the Lord would glorify Himself in Luke’s body!  We give Him all praise, honor and glory for all He has done and will continue to do!!

  1. Father,
Thanks you for all that you have done in and through the lives of the Yoder’s. Thank you for the continued healing of Luke. Lord, envelop Luke in Your peace as he continues to fight. I pray that as you restore him, that you would encourage and uplift his heart. Give him strength in body, but also in tenacity as circumstances become more real to him. You are closer to him than the circumstances as You have proven over and over. Be ever before him, O God, as you lead him on.
    In Jesus Name, Amen.

  2. Dear Luke,
It is 1:15 a.m. and I am wide awake, thinking about the songs we will sing at your benefit. God has done so many things for you and He will continue to watch over you, heal you and restore you. Our prayer is that this night of worship would be a time to celebrate His goodness in your life. As we praise Him and worship the One who is worthy, was also pray that we will do warfare on your behalf and fill up the bowls of heaven to overflowing on your behalf. Little man, God has His hand upon you. He has never left your side. His angels tended to you the day of the accident, as they had every day before and as they will every day forward. Your life is one of purpose, destiny and full of miracles of His goodness. May you continue to shine with His love and tell others of His power, all the days of your life. He is good and His mercies endure forever. He is mighty to save. He is on the throne and is worthy of all honor, glory and power. We love you and we thank God for keeping you on this earth to be His vessel all the days of your life!

  6. Truly great is HIS faithfulness!! Wonder what the atheists would ascribe Luke’s healing in progression to? God is a miracle working God and I just love to hear the good reports of this little boy’s healing happening before your very eyes!! God’s not dead, He’s still alive!!

  7. My yoga instructor is now on board for praying for Luke (and she is wearing his wristband!) POWER IN NUMBERS!!

Ben and Lindsey – I know this is such a difficult and draining time right now, but there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Before you know it, life will be back to normal and Luke will be at home playing like before. I know the days are long and it feels like this process is never-ending, but IT IS ONLY TEMPORARY! I know the two of you well enough to know that you are SO STRONG and have what it takes to get through this with flying colors! Where do you think Luke gets his tenacity from?

God is with you and He will give you the endurance to make it one day at a time!

  8. Dear Yoder Family,

Although I do not know you personnally, I am a friend of a friend (Mike Fulk), and I think of you often. Mike suggested that I post something since I oversee an organization that specializes in working with survivors of brain injury. I’ve worked worked in this field for more than a decade and realize the many challenges you are facing and the MANY accomplishments Luke has made to date. We’re all pulling for Luke and will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

If you ever have any questions or would just like to talk to one of us, please do not hesitate to call or email us.

    With love,

  9. Dear, precious Luke~

You inspire us and we pray for you every day. Did you get the “Jesus Heals” shirt we sent you? That phrase is such a testimony to what He has done for you and how much He loves you. We believe that all of the hours you spent playing baseball have strengthened your body so that it will heal faster. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God and we hope to meet you someday. Certainly your brother and sister miss you as well and we pray you will be home very, very soon. Many people love you and are praying for you. You are doing a great job of getting better!

We hope to see you back on the ball field next spring! Your baseball league is praying for your complete healing. We know you can do it!!! Keep working hard each day and try to do something new each day. It may not be as easy as you would like it to be, but YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  11. Luke, this is a word that the Lord has placed in front of me a lot recently – I think you might find it encouraging:

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not look anxiously about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with MY righteous right hand. ISAIAH 41:10

I know that feeling of wanting to go home to get back to a place of normalcy and comfortable enviroment. Hang in there – His plan for you is perfect little brother.
