Update

Well the MRI is done and Luke is resting after a full day.  We did not find out any results today, just went for the scan.  The radiologist and his neurologists will read it over the weekend and we will see them for an appointment on Tuesday afternoon.  At that time, they will let us know if they are satisfied with the pictures that were taken and what the next plan of action will be.  We really don’t know what day next week the halo will be taken off if everything is healed, but we will definately update the blog when we find out.  Luke did very well today.  He was put under anesthesia for the MRI and woke up smiling and calm.  He is such a trooper.

Today, the nurse he had was amazed to see him.  She told us that she was at UVA the night he was brought to the ER.  She said that they got a call about this 7-year-old boy and she said that they were told to drop their other cases and clear out to get ready for him in radiology.  A little while later she said they received another call saying that no scans were necessary because he was “fixed and dilated”…they all thought that Luke had passed away.  It was awesome for her to be able to sit and talk with Luke and with us, she was really great!  We also saw Dr. Jane’s assistant, Sarah, while we were getting coffee in the cafeteria and were able to talk with her and get some much needed answers.  They are excited to see Luke on Tuesday.

One last note, on the way home from UVA we had Crocodile Dock playing and when “You’re Powerful” came on, Luke was in the back singing loud and doing all the motions.  He was having a great time!  The night before the accident he was doing the same thing on the way home from a worship service at church.  The first few days after the accident we kept thinking about that, and wishing so badly we could just go back and see him do it again.  Today we got to see it… PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!

  4. Thank you so much for keeping us updated. We are praying for a peaceful week ahead and for good answers. God has been faithful and every time I pass Luke’s photo on my fridge I HAVE to smile, no matter what kind of a day I’m having. His sweet face is a constant reminder to me of how BIG God is. I’ll pass this latest news on to Brandt, Carson and Jordan. They still thank God for sparing Luke’s life every day. He is one special little man!

  11. Lindsey,
You don’t know me, but I have been following all of the blogs ever since the accident. I go to Blue Ridge Church of Christ with my daughter and her family. We have prayed faithfully for Luke, and for all of his family. His remarkable recovery has certainly reaffirmed my faith, touched the innermost particle of my soul. I have had tears of joy and chills from my head to my toes, literally, when reading miracle after miracle that our God has performed. I know God will continue to heal Luke’s sight and bring him completely back to the Luke prior to the accident. How great is our God. God has shown us HiS true love.
