Good Family Time

Fall is here and we enjoyed a fun weekend as a family.  Kelby (my brother), Jill, and Ella came to visit from Florida.  They came up right after the accident and stayed for a week, so they had not seen Luke since his halo first went on.  They could not wait to get up here give Luke a squeeze and spend some time with us! It was good to be together.      Luke was especially excited to play with Ella again.  He loves babies, and says that she is one of his best friends…plus he says he is good at making her smile.  DSC_1743

On Sunday our family went for a hike at Humpback Rocks.  It was a gorgeous fall day to be outdoors.  Hiking is one of our  favorite activities to do together, and Ben and I were so thankful to be able to take ALL of our kids!  God is so good!!  Luke did awesome, he took a few breaks and Ben gave him a piggy-back ride twice, but he pressed on and was determined to get to the top.  We are so proud of him and really had such a fun day together.  DSC_1751

Luke has been back at school for a week now, and is loving it.  (Although, Maleah is missing him at home.) His energy and stamina continue to increase and he says he can’t wait until he can stay for full days.  The school has been wonderful and the kids have been loving and so glad to have him there again.  What a blessing for Luke and our family!  This Friday, we go to UVA for an endocrine appointment.  Luke is currently taking a hormone for his sodium level to remain within the normal limits, he will have a full blood work up done to see if he needs to continue taking his pill.  Since he has been home, it has been normal so we are praying he can stop taking it.  Also, keep praying for his vision to improve (that big appointment is in Dec), and also for his neck and skull fractures to completely heal.  He has a 3-D scan November 6th and that will determine if the brace can come off and Luke can be “turned loose” (docs words).
Thank you, thank you for the continued support and prayers…we are just so thankful.  Everyday, we are aware of how blessed we are to be all together again, and to have such love surrounding us!
Bless you all, enjoy this beautiful time of harvest!!! We are!

I’m reminded of that day we were in CO and got the news of the accident – we were camping right next to Rich & Jolene – thank God that He answered our prayers! Your family is a blessing! Thanks for sharing – but, hope you don’t feel burdened to share – it’s just so exciting to see the improvements! Our God is awesome!!

  10. As Luke’s health has improved my prayers for him and your family may have changed in intensity and frequency, but not in the measure of compassion and devotion I have for you. I still long to see our Mighty God perform a miracle with Luke’s eyes and to strengthen his neck muscles/ligaments. I stand on HIS Word and on HIS Name as being worthy and believable. He has been so good and so amazing to you and it moves me. Still~your story moves me. Count on me to still cheer you on and pray. I’m still here and I’m eagerly awaiting to see what HE has in store. Your family is a blessing and GOD is to be praised! You have been vessels and I know it has been excruciating at times, but WOW! Look what HE has done because of your story. Lives have been touched I just know it. I’ve talked too much! Again!! 🙂

  12. Wow, there are tears in my eyes as I look at these photos. WHO would have thought, just two or three months ago, that Luke would be taking a hike with his whole family. I cannot say it enough…GOD IS SO GOOD. “He has shown His awesome power, He has triumphed mightily, He’s the victor over darkness and the grave!” AMEN and AMEN!!

  16. As I continue to read on the updates and the goodness that has been showered on Luke, I stand amazed at the love that God has for us lowly people. This song “God will make a way, when there seems there is no way. He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way, Hw will make a way.” He certainly has and I rejoice with you. I pray for Luke and will continue to. Last Sunday, I gazed at this beautiful display of beauty of a rainbow during a rain and sunshine together. I stopped to snap a picture and the radio had a song playing…”Lift your eyes and you will see My glory….To God be the glory.” God truly is good.
Tell Luke we are so very happy for the recovery and are excied to hear more good things in the future.
