A Need for Continued Prayer

We are so grateful to our glorious Father in Heaven for all He has done for Luke. Though we had a positive day, Luke still needs your prayers for a few immediate concerns. First, his sodium levels need to slightly drop and then stabilize in order to remove the ventilator. He is currently breathing on his own with the assistance of the ventilator, but we are asking God to strenthen his lungs so that he has no need for assistance.

Secondly, pray that the damage to his ligaments heal in a timely manner, in order to avoid further complications. Finally, pray that he will sustain healthy eye function post recovery.

We sincerely appreciate the prayers that have been pouring in across the country for Luke. They are clearly working and the continual crying out to God is essential for Luke’s healing.

Our prayer is that Luke will make a FULL RECOVERY. But we need widespread support,  and we believe that God will deliver Luke! We thank Him in advance for what He is going to do!

Thank you!

  5. Ben and Lindsey~

I was so shocked and saddened to hear the news about Luke and Carson. We’ve been out of town and without internet for several days, so this is the first I had heard about it! I am so sorry for this trial that you are enduring, but I admire your strong faith during this tough time. Our family will be joining yours in prayer as Luke recovers!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

  9. When we heard about Luke’s accident our heart’s just broke as we cried out to the Lord, begging him for healing for Luke and mercy for all of you. Many prayed as Greg announced this on the radio. Greg had called me, to ask about Luke being in school with Nicholas, so after that Nicholas was very concerned to know what happened. I told him, and we prayed together, then he quietly slipped out of the room and went into his bedroom, and locked his door, which he never does. That night, as we prayed together for Luke before we went to sleep, I told Nick he could pray anytime he thought about Luke, and he told me he did that already. I asked him when, and he said, “after we prayed, I went in my room by myself and prayed…and I cried too.” Our great God, our Abba Father, is more powerful and loves us more than we could ever know.
I am so thankful to hear the news that Luke’s condition has progressed so well. Praise to our Heavenly Father, who is with us always, who never slumbers nor sleeps. We will continue to pray fervently for your sweet boy. My heart goes out to you and if there is anything we can do to help you please let us know…you now have my email….and I do mean that…any need you have if it’s not met…please call us.
Love to your family from the Crabtrees

PS IF and when Luke is ready please say in your blog when he would want any of his buddies to come and visit him.

  10. Any time of the day or night, Luke is on my mind. It’s 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 and I am wide awake. I am certain that most of your family is unable to rest well right now, and I ask the Lord to multiply what the hours of sleep you do get. “He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.”

  11. May the Lord continue to uphold your confidence and hope in Him. He is a faithful high priest who knows our infirmities and weaknesses for he was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Many of our folks in prayer meeting last night asked about Luke, so I know that though they do not know him, yet in the Lord he is one of our children, and so we pray and will pray that the Lord will show himself mighty in healing and in comfort to you and Lindsey and Luke’s grandfather. Your servant in Christ, Rocky

  15. Thank you, to whomever is daily updating this blog–I know from past experience when we went through a horrible accident w/ my brother and were staying at UVA around the clock, how DRAINING it can be, to keep everyone updated–so thank you! Not only are we able to intercede on behalf of the whole Yoder/Hoschtetler *sp?sorry!* family, but we are able to pray in specific ways!

I have been awoken throughout the night this week, “more than normal” and have just taken the time to pray pray pray–thanks again, for allowing us to be apart of this journey, in this way.

Here’s to a GREAT day crew–God has moved in GREAT ways and He’s going to continue–I’m w/ Fern on this one–He didn’t bring ya this far, to quit now! (And if Luke is ANYTHING like Ben–he’s a spunky little fighter!)

  16. Good Morning! Ben and Lindsey, I was reading again the words to the song which became so special to Luke in Bible School. I believe God placed that song in his heart for a special reason. We claim His powerful strength over you as parents and for Luke as he recovers.

  18. Hi Lindsey and Ben:
Just like several of your other friends, I’ve been awake off and on throughout the nights to pray for Luke. Dondra told me the same thing. I believe God is not only working a miracle on Luke; but He is using this to help the faith of many, many others throughout the U.S. (and maybe beyond, with the Internet.) I know you have been through a roller coaster of emotions, and there is a reason for that too. You will be prepared to help other parents in the future and be a great strength to them when they go through trying times like this. Luke sounds so special and I guess he always has been special. God will use him for great things in His Kingdom on earth — so happy to hear he committed his life to the Lord recently. You two sound like good, Christian parents and that’s wonderful and somewhat rare these days. Keep up the Faith and keep up the good work. Our prayers continue and thank you for keeping us updated in this way! Love you all, Cindy Hochstetler-Lincoln, NE

We are continuing to pray for Luke’s complete recovery and healing and for much wisdom and guidance for the Doctors. Luke’s story, as it continues to unfold, has strenthened my own faith as I’m sure it has for many of those who hear this story. Our God is AWESOME and still works miracles!!! 27. Hello Luke,

You don’t remember me, but we remember you well. As you lay there in bed, many people are praing for you and your complete recovery. While you sleep, there are loved ones around you who are urging you to be strong and know you are a fighter. I’m sure many hands have been layed on you in prayer. You’re mom and dad, grandparents and brother and sister, aunts and uncles, friends love you so much, but did you know that God loves you even more? That’s right. That is very hard to understand even for me, but He is watching over you and loving you and caring for you every step of the way.

I know it will take some time to recover but I feel you will. When you wake up will be a wonderful time and we will all rejoice together.

Untill next time, we will continue to lift your body to the Lord, who is already doing “MIGHTY” things for you. God bless.

We do not know each other but Nicolette Powell is my sister. She let us know about the accident here in Vermont and I wanted to let you know that you have many people here in VT praying for Luke and your family. I am so thankful for the recovery that he is already making and that God is making himself so powerfully known to you, the doctors, and everyone who is following Luke’s story. The power of prayer is amazing!

  37. Dear Lindsey, Ben and family,

I have been slow in responding because when things like this happen I often don’t know what to say. I talked to your dad, Lindsey, the night of the accident as they were driving to VA and he sounded so confident and strong and I was trying my best not to break down and cry. And when I read all the comments from others and can sense your strong faith and trust in God it moves me to tears. We, too, are calling out to our Heavenly Father to move on Luke’s behalf in healing but also that His presence would be so real that others in the hospital will be touched by His love. We, also, appreciate the updates and thank you for doing this for all of us when you have so much on your minds. Keep leaning on Him! Love from your aunt Marlys and Uncle Dan

And even beyond the GREAT Physician, may You especially continue to prove to the whole precious Yoder flock that You are their GOOD Shepherd, too. Amen.
