Vent Tube is Out!!

Doctors just took the vent tube out (Monday approx. 5:30pm) and it went very smoothly.  They ended up doing it at his bedside, but he is breathing fine and we are so thankful to finally have the ventilator removed.  While we understand this is just one step in the recovery process, it feels like such a large step.  Part of this is due to the fact that they can now reduce the sedation further and continue the waking up process, and the other part is just appearance.  He looks so much more comfortable and more like Luke than he has since the accident.  It feels like a foggy dream but this afternoon/evening marks two weeks since the accident.

Tonight, lets send our praise along with our prayers for what the Lord has done in this time. We have all been priveleged to see his mighty and awesome works through Luke.  Continue to pray for Luke as he moves forward in his recovery.  There are many unknowns until Luke wakes up and can express to us and the doctors what is going on.  We are just continuing to believe that there are many exciting days ahead in Luke’s story!!            Mike

  6. To the Yoder family,
We first met Mark & Martha (and family), when they built our home in Willow West about 16 years ago. We have been following Luke’s blog and praying for him since we heard about the accident. Sarah and I are visiting my parents in Florida and wanted to let you know that Luke and your family are in their prayers as well. My experience as an oncology nurse has provided a variety of “miracles” and I truly believe that Luke is another example. God bless!

The picture of Luke looks so much better than the other picture of him earlier in the hospital. We are here if you need anything. We will continue to pray and lift our praise to the Lord for what he was done thus far.

  18. He looks so good, just like Luke. This does seem like such a huge step, I can not wait to see all the fast improvements he makes, I know there will be so many. I again just want to say how amazed I am at how strong you all have been I know God has given that to you.
    Psalm 20
May the Lord answer you when you are in distress: may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. May he give you the desires of your heart and make all of your plans succeed. We will SHOUT for JOY when you are VICTORIOUS and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May God grant all your requests. Now I know that the Lord saves his ANNOINTED; he answers him from the holy heavens with the saving power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD OUR GOD. They are brought to their knees and fall, but WE RISE UP AND STAND FIRM. O LORD, SAVE THE KING! ANSWER US WHEN WE CALL!

I love this psalm so much and just think it is so true. We have ask the Lord and we have received. Praise the Lord!!! We love you guys very much, and I ask God that tomorrow will be a wonderful day for Luke and you both.

  19. We are rejoicing with you over Luke and this big step! He is lifted up to the Lord throughout our day in our home. Also, praying that God will give you times of “refreshment” during these long days and nights. We are thankful that God is faithful and await more miracles in Luke’s recovery.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Ps. 139:14

  27. Luke has sure been in our thoughts and prayers especially today as you anticipated this procedure. We praise God that it went so well. It’s so wonderful to have – the gifts/expertise God has given to the medically trained “angels” who are ministering to you and Luke in this difficult time. Praying for continued peace and absence of fear. God bless you all.

  30. Thank you for sharing Luke’s “journey”. I log on several times a day to check his progess and rejoice that God is working miracles. Mark & Martha and Glen and Betty I think of you often throughout the day and know your hearts must be breaking as you stand by your children and grandchildren through this difficult time. God has given you the strength and will continue to give you the strength in the days ahead. God has blessed you with wonderful and supportive families and He will continue to do wonders in Luke’s life as well as in the lives of those who care for him.

God’s strength and presence is so evident in you both, hold tight….like so many have said, God is not finished with Luke, and He has amazing things in store for Luke’s future!!! We will continue to pray for Luke’s eyesight and that his whole being will be restored completely!
Thanks for sharing the wonderful news!
